It's the afterwork special! Because we all need a few days to plan, I want to post volunteer opportunities for the upcoming weekend on...Wednesday. The first volunteer opportunity (and offered on several weekends) supports an effort which is very important to me and to the goals of the Shalom House. This week, I'm featuring the Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program.

The BHCHP is looking for volunteers to help run fun, interactive, and engaging activities for adults experiencing homelessness staying in BHCHP's medical respite facility, the Barbara McInnis House. Examples of activities include arts & crafts, cookie decorating, board games, bingo, Wii, computer training and movies! Volunteers need to be comfortable working with adults experiencing homelessness in a hospital setting!

Boston Health Care for the Homeless provides care to more than 12,500 men, women, and children every year. Boston Health Care for the Homeless has a unique model that offers comprehensive care at approximately 70 locations throughout Boston in partnership with shelters, food programs, and other homeless population support agencies.
